教科文组织委派专家考察评估 兴文世界地质公园 UNESCO Designates Experts to the Evaluation Mission of Xingwen Global Geopark
From November 29 to 30, 2019, Ruslan Zhechkow, the independent investigator appointed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), evaluated the construction and management of Xingwen UNESCO Global Geopark.
At the briefing, the Administration Bureau of the Xingwen UNESCO Global Geopark reported relevant work of Xingwen UNESCO Global Geopark (hereinafter referring to as Xingwen Geopark) to Ruslan Zhechkow from the following five aspects: the background and significance of the establishment of Xingwen Geopark, its construction and development, the role of Xingwen Geopark played in the sustainable development of the regional economy and the protection of regional culture and science popularization education, as well as the suggestions on the application work of Global Geoparks Network (GGN). It also gave a detailed answer to community development, popular science education, and suggestions on GGN’s application work which Ruslan Zhechkow concerned about.
After the meeting, Ruslan Zhechkow evaluated Xiaoyanwan Scenic Area, Mount Bowangshan Scenic Area, Hongyu Community Citrus Industrial Park in Xiaoyanwan Scenic Area, country tourism to Shijugudi Scenic Spot, Shuiluba Modern Agricultural Park in Mount Bowangshan Scenic Area, Chunzheng Oil Mill, the cooperative enterprise of Xingwen Geopark, and Fu'an Primary School, the Popular Science Demonstration School of Xingwen Geopark. During the inspection, Ruslan Zhechkow had cordial talks with community residents, business owners, farmhouse owners and school principals, asking in detail the relationship between the community and the geopark, how the geopark promotes the economic development of the community, how community residents participate in the construction of the geopark, the development of the community industry, the number, employment and income of community residents, as well as the development of popular science education, including geological science, in community and schools. Through a two-day inspection and evaluation, Ruslan Zhechkow highly praised the construction and management of Xingwen UNESCO Global Geopark, saying that Xingwen Global Geopark could share its experience with other geoparks as a demonstration. Ruslan Zhechkow also said that he would impartially report the construction and management of Xingwen UNESCO Global Geopark and its suggestions on GGN’s application work to UNESCO Evaluation and Revalidation Office in the evaluation report.
